Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment such as dump trucks, backhoes, graders, and rollers.
- Perform manual labor including digging, trenching, hauling materials, and lifting heavy objects.
- Assist in the maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks, curbs, and storm drains.
- Clear snow and ice from roads, parking lots, and public walkways during winter months.
- Perform general cleanup and landscaping duties in public parks and rights-of-way.
- Follow all safety protocols and OSHA regulations to ensure a safe worksite.
- Interact with the public and other city departments professionally and courteously.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid North Carolina Driver's License (Class C) with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Physical ability to perform strenuous labor for extended periods outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of construction and road maintenance practices is a plus.
- Willingness to work overtime, nights, and weekends as needed.
- OSHA 10 General Industry Certification is preferred but not mandatory.
