Responsibilities
- Perform General Maintenance: Assist in the repair and maintenance of city streets, sidewalks, curbs, and traffic signs to ensure public safety and accessibility.
- Heavy Equipment Operation: Safely operate heavy machinery, including dump trucks, loaders, and paving equipment, under the supervision of a foreman.
- Stormwater Management: Assist in cleaning storm drains, catch basins, and ditches to prevent flooding and maintain proper drainage systems.
- Snow & Ice Removal: Execute snow removal and ice control duties during winter months to keep roadways and sidewalks passable for the community.
- Street Sweeping & Cleaning: Operate street sweepers to remove debris, litter, and pollutants from city roads and right-of-ways.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA safety regulations, traffic control procedures, and city policies while working in active traffic zones.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Driver’s License: Valid Class D Indiana Driver’s License with a good driving record is mandatory.
- Physical Ability: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly and perform work in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow).
- Experience: Previous experience in construction, landscaping, or municipal maintenance is preferred but not required for qualified candidates.
- Reliability: Must pass a background check and drug screen. Must be punctual and able to work a full-time schedule.
- Communication: Basic ability to read and understand safety instructions and communicate effectively with team members.
