Job Overview
The Public Works Laborer is responsible for performing a variety of manual tasks related to the construction, maintenance, and repair of public infrastructure. This includes roadways, sidewalks, storm drains, and public facilities. You will work closely with a skilled crew to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Perform general labor duties including excavation, grading, and paving maintenance.
- Operate and maintain light to heavy construction equipment such as jackhammers, rollers, and dump trucks.
- Assist in street maintenance, pothole repair, and traffic signal maintenance.
- Remove snow and ice from public sidewalks, roads, and parking lots during winter months.
- Load and unload construction materials and debris from job sites.
- Follow safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions and at heights.
- Basic knowledge of construction safety standards (OSHA) is a plus.
- Ability to pass a drug screen and background check.
