Responsibilities
- Maintain Infrastructure: Perform routine maintenance on city streets, including pothole repair, pavement patching, and line striping.
- Heavy Equipment Operation: Safely operate heavy machinery such as dump trucks, front-end loaders, excavators, and rollers as trained.
- Snow and Ice Removal: Execute snow removal and ice control duties during winter months to ensure public safety and accessibility.
- Utility Maintenance: Assist in the installation, repair, and maintenance of water mains, sewer lines, and storm drains.
- Site Preparation: Prepare construction sites by clearing debris, loading/unloading materials, and setting up barriers.
- General Labor: Assist engineers and supervisors with various manual tasks related to construction and public improvement projects.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA safety regulations and City protocols to maintain a safe work environment.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Experience: Previous experience in construction, landscaping, or public works is preferred but not required (training provided).
- Driver's License: Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is a strong plus; standard Class C license required.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently; ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Skills: Basic knowledge of hand and power tools; ability to read and understand basic blueprints or work orders.
- Communication: Good verbal communication skills and the ability to follow instructions from supervisors.
- Availability: Willingness to work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as required by the season.
