Responsibilities
- Snow and Ice Removal: Operate snowplows and salt spreaders to clear roads, sidewalks, and public spaces during inclement weather conditions.
- Street Maintenance: Assist in repairing potholes, patching asphalt, and maintaining traffic signs and markings.
- Solid Waste Operations: Collect trash, recycling, and yard waste from residential and commercial zones.
- Heavy Equipment Operation: Load and unload heavy materials, operate dump trucks, and assist with machinery maintenance.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA safety standards and wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Public Assistance: Interact professionally with the public to answer questions and provide assistance during emergencies or events.
- General Labor: Perform various manual tasks including digging, grading, and cleaning work sites.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Experience: Prior experience in construction, landscaping, or municipal public works is preferred but not always required for entry-level roles.
- Driver's License: Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record required.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly, stand for extended periods, and work in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
- Equipment: Ability to operate basic hand tools and power equipment safely.
- Background: Must pass a background check and drug screening.
