Responsibilities
- Assist in construction and maintenance of city roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Operate light machinery and hand tools under supervision (e.g., shovels, jackhammers)
- Perform manual labor including digging, lifting, and material handling
- Maintain clean and safe job sites following OSHA guidelines
- Support traffic control and flagging operations during roadwork
- Report equipment issues and safety hazards to supervisors
Qualifications
- No prior experience required - comprehensive training provided
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in physically demanding conditions
- Valid California Driver's License (Class C or higher)
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED accepted)
- Pass pre-employment physical and background check
- Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends
- Basic math skills for material measurements
