Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor in construction, repair, and maintenance of city infrastructure including roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Operate hand/power tools and light machinery under supervision during training phase
- Assist skilled tradespeople with excavation, grading, and material handling
- Maintain safe work zones following OSHA and city protocols
- Complete daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance tasks
- Participate in storm response and emergency public works operations
- Document work activities and maintain project cleanliness
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent (or working toward)
- Valid Texas Driver's License (Class C) with acceptable driving record
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in outdoor conditions
- Willingness to obtain required certifications (provided through paid training)
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and compliance procedures
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn equipment operation
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and weather-dependent schedules
