We're seeking motivated individuals ready to work outdoors and contribute to Greensboro's critical infrastructure. Our 6-week paid training curriculum includes hands-on experience with heavy machinery, safety protocols, and environmental best practices. Upon completion, you'll transition into a permanent full-time position with advancement opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Perform roadway maintenance, repair, and inspection duties
- Operate heavy machinery (excavators, graders, dump trucks) after training
- Assist in stormwater system maintenance and erosion control
- Conduct daily equipment checks and basic maintenance
- Adhere to OSHA safety standards and municipal regulations
- Participate in emergency response operations during severe weather
- Document work activities and maintain accurate field reports
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid North Carolina driver's license (Class B preferred)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in outdoor conditions
- Pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
- No prior experience required – training provided
- Basic math skills for measurements and material calculations
- Commitment to public service and community values
- Willingness to obtain CDL within first year of employment
