Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery (excavators, dump trucks, rollers) for infrastructure projects
- Perform manual labor including grading, paving, and drainage maintenance
- Assist in stormwater management and erosion control initiatives
- Conduct daily inspections of public works equipment and facilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on municipal improvement projects
- Maintain strict adherence to OSHA and city safety protocols
- Document work activities and material usage accurately
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid North Carolina driver's license with clean record
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic mechanical knowledge preferred but not required
- Must pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
- Ability to obtain Class B CDL within 6 months of hire
- Strong teamwork skills and commitment to public service
- Willingness to work rotating shifts and overtime as needed
