Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery including excavators, loaders, and asphalt pavers
- Perform manual labor tasks including grading, trenching, and utility installation
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and safety compliance checks
- Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Document field activities and submit digital reports via remote portals
- Adhere to OSHA standards and municipal safety protocols
- Participate in emergency response operations during severe weather events
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with 2+ years construction/labor experience
- Valid North Carolina driver's license with clean driving record
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification or willingness to obtain
- Proficiency with basic hand/power tools and field equipment
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
- Basic computer skills for remote reporting and scheduling coordination
- Strong teamwork communication skills and reliability
- Flexibility to work variable shifts including nights/weekends for projects
