Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor tasks including excavation, grading, and material handling
- Operate light machinery (e.g., jackhammers, saws, power tools) safely and efficiently
- Assist in construction, maintenance, and repair of public infrastructure
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and department protocols
- Participate in emergency response operations during severe weather events
- Maintain accurate work records and equipment logs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on project timelines
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Minimum 1 year construction or public works experience preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
- OSHA 10-hour certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days)
- Strong attention to safety protocols and procedures
- Basic mechanical aptitude and tool maintenance knowledge
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and flexible shifts
