Responsibilities
- Assist in construction, maintenance, and repair of public infrastructure including roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Operate hand tools (shovels, jackhammers, saws) and light machinery under supervision
- Load/unload construction materials and equipment safely at job sites
- Maintain clean and organized work areas following OSHA safety standards
- Support skilled tradespersons with site preparation and project execution
- Document daily progress and report equipment issues to supervisors
- Participate in emergency response operations during severe weather events
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Valid driver's license with clean record
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of construction safety protocols
- Ability to follow verbal instructions and work collaboratively
- Reliable transportation to multiple borough locations
- Pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
