Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery and construction equipment, including rollers, compactors, and skid steers, under supervision.
- Perform manual labor tasks such as excavation, digging trenches, and loading/unloading materials.
- Assist in the paving, patching, and maintenance of roads, sidewalks, and public utilities.
- Ensure job sites are clean, organized, and free of hazards in compliance with OSHA safety standards.
- Communicate effectively with foremen and crew members to coordinate tasks and ensure project efficiency.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations regarding public works projects.
- Perform basic traffic control duties, including flagging and setting up signage.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred but not strictly required.
- Valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record are mandatory.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly and stand for extended periods of time.
- Basic mechanical knowledge or experience with construction tools is a plus.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, rain, and cold.
- Reliable transportation to and from the job site in Memphis, TN.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
