Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery and hand tools for excavation, grading, and material handling
- Assist in road maintenance, drainage system repairs, and public park infrastructure projects
- Perform site cleanup, debris removal, and hazardous waste disposal following OSHA protocols
- Inspect and maintain assigned equipment to ensure optimal safety and performance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on time-sensitive municipal projects
- Document daily work activities and material usage for reporting compliance
- Participate in emergency response operations during severe weather events
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training preferred
- Valid Virginia driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of construction safety standards and PPE usage
- Strong mechanical aptitude with willingness to operate heavy machinery
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
- US citizenship or legal authorization to work in the United States
- Flexibility to work weekends/holidays during emergency operations
