As a Public Works Laborer, you'll gain hands-on experience in road maintenance, park rehabilitation, and utility operations. Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor tasks including excavation, grading, and material handling for infrastructure projects
- Operate hand tools (shovels, picks, tampers) and light equipment under supervision
- Assist in traffic control setup and work zone safety protocols
- Maintain clean and organized job sites while adhering to environmental regulations
- Collaborate with crew members to complete daily project milestones efficiently
- Report equipment malfunctions and safety hazards to supervisors immediately
- Support vegetation management and erosion control measures in public spaces
Qualifications
- Must be 18+ years old with authorization to work in the United States
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in variable weather
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record preferred
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification or willingness to obtain
- Basic knowledge of construction safety standards and procedures
- Ability to follow verbal instructions and work independently as needed
- Experience with hand tools or heavy equipment operation is advantageous
- Reliable transportation to job sites across King County
