Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor tasks including road maintenance, drainage system repairs, and park upkeep
- Operate light machinery and equipment safely (e.g., jackhammers, saws, dump trucks)
- Assist in construction projects including sidewalk repairs, traffic signal installations, and stormwater management
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and department protocols
- Maintain clean and organized job sites, properly disposing of materials
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project deadlines
- Document work progress and report equipment maintenance needs
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Valid North Carolina driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions
- Basic mechanical knowledge and equipment operation experience preferred
- OSHA 10-hour certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights/weekends for emergency response
- Strong work ethic with reliable attendance and punctuality
- Pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
