Job Summary
As a Public Works Laborer, you will play a vital role in keeping Saint Paul safe, clean, and accessible. You will work outdoors year-round, performing essential maintenance tasks that directly impact the quality of life for our residents.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery and equipment, including dump trucks, front-end loaders, and snowplows.
- Perform snow and ice removal operations during winter months to ensure safe roadways and sidewalks.
- Conduct street sweeping, leaf collection, and trash removal duties.
- Maintain public parks, greenways, and right-of-way areas including mowing, landscaping, and graffiti removal.
- Assist with infrastructure repair projects, including pothole patching and guardrail installation.
- Follow all safety protocols and OSHA regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and fellow crew members to coordinate daily tasks.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Valid Class C Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
- Basic knowledge of construction or public works operations is a plus but not required.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Physical stamina required for manual labor tasks.
