Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor tasks including excavation, grading, and material handling
- Operate light equipment (sweepers, forklifts, compressors) after trainingMaintain public spaces, parks, and infrastructure per city standards
- Follow strict safety protocols and maintain clean work sites
- Assist skilled tradespersons with construction and maintenance projects
- Complete daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance
- Document work progress and materials usage accurately
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Valid California Driver's License (Class C)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
- Pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Basic math skills for measurements and material calculations
- Commitment to safety and teamwork
- Resident of San Jose or willing to relocate (relocation assistance available)
