Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on city infrastructure including streets, sidewalks, drainage systems, and public facilities
- Operate heavy equipment including backhoes, graders, and street sweepers with precision and safety
- Respond to emergency situations including storm damage, traffic hazards, and public safety concerns
- Conduct routine inspections and document maintenance activities using digital reporting systems
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement infrastructure improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and City safety protocols
- Maintain accurate equipment logs and maintenance records
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with 3+ years of public works or construction maintenance experience
- Valid California Class C driver's license with clean driving record
- Certification in heavy equipment operation or willingness to obtain within 6 months
- Working knowledge of construction materials, safety standards, and municipal infrastructure
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends for emergency response
- Physical ability to perform strenuous outdoor work in various weather conditions
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Experience with digital maintenance management systems preferred
