Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment (street sweepers, dump trucks, backhoes) for infrastructure maintenance
- Perform preventive repairs on city facilities, parks, and drainage systems
- Respond to emergency service calls within established response times
- Conduct daily safety inspections and maintain equipment logs per OSHA standards
- Collaborate with engineering teams on public improvement projects
- Document maintenance activities using digital work order systems
- Train junior staff on proper equipment operation and safety protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification preferred
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with airbrake endorsement
- 3+ years experience in public works, construction, or related field
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification or ability to obtain within 30 days
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic computer proficiency for reporting systems
- Pass pre-employment physical and background check
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills strongly preferred
