Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on municipal facilities, parks, and roadways
- Operate heavy machinery and specialized equipment safely
- Respond to emergency infrastructure repairs and weather-related incidents
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams on public improvement projects
- Conduct site inspections and document maintenance activities
- Ensure compliance with municipal safety protocols and environmental regulations
- Support community outreach initiatives for public works programs
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 2+ years of experience in public works, construction, or related field
- Valid California Class C Driver's License (Class A/B preferred)
- Certification in equipment operation (e.g., forklift, backhoe) or willingness to obtain
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights/weekends for emergencies
- Strong problem-solving skills and physical stamina for outdoor work
- Experience with GIS mapping or municipal software systems
- Pass background check and drug screening
