Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on city sidewalks, streets, parks, and public facilities
- Operate heavy machinery including backhoes, dump trucks, and street sweepers safely and efficiently
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs to the supervisor
- Respond to emergency service calls for storm damage, fallen trees, and infrastructure failures
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and municipal regulations at all times
- Document work activities, material usage, and incident reports accurately
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams for coordinated infrastructure projects
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required; technical certification in maintenance preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience in public works, construction, or facilities maintenance
- Valid Michigan Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with clean driving record
- Proficiency in operating heavy equipment and hand/power tools
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and lift up to 50 pounds regularly
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and safety protocols
- Excellent communication abilities for team coordination and public interaction
- Must pass pre-employment physical and background check
