Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain city vehicles, machinery, and public infrastructure systems
- Perform preventative maintenance on traffic signals, street lighting, and drainage systems
- Respond to emergency service calls during severe weather events
- Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety regulations and municipal standards
- Document maintenance activities using digital reporting systems
- Mentor junior staff on proper equipment operation and safety protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of equipment maintenance or construction experience
- Valid North Carolina Class B Commercial Driver's License
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification within 90 days of hire
- Ability to operate heavy machinery (backhoes, graders, etc.)
- Pass background check and pre-employment physical
- Experience with GIS mapping or CMMS software a plus
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights and weekends
