Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment (mowers, trucks, tractors) for park and street maintenance
- Perform routine inspections and repairs of public facilities, playgrounds, and green spaces
- Implement stormwater management protocols and drainage system maintenance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams during emergency response and disaster recovery
- Adhere to OSHA safety standards and proper waste disposal procedures
- Document maintenance activities and prepare daily activity reports
- Assist with seasonal beautification projects and public event support
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification in maintenance preferred
- Minimum 2 years experience in municipal public works or facility maintenance
- Valid Louisiana Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification or willingness to obtain within 90 days
- Ability to operate heavy machinery and power tools safely
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and carpentry fundamentals
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Must pass background check and drug screening
