Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment including street sweepers, garbage trucks, and snow removal machinery
- Perform routine inspections and repairs on public infrastructure (roads, sidewalks, traffic signals)
- Coordinate with city agencies for stormwater management and environmental compliance
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests during inclement weather
- Train junior staff on equipment operation and safety protocols
- Document maintenance activities and submit progress reports
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred
- Minimum 3 years' experience in municipal maintenance or construction
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- OSHA 30-hour construction certification
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of DC municipal codes and safety regulations
- Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills
