Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on city infrastructure including roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Operate heavy equipment (mowers, tractors, trenchers) for landscaping and groundskeeping
- Respond to emergency repairs during weather events or public safety incidents
- Conduct routine inspections of municipal assets and document maintenance activities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on capital improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety protocols and environmental regulations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Minimum 2 years' experience in construction, landscaping, or facilities maintenance
- Valid North Carolina Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- OSHA 10-hour certification or willingness to obtain within 90 days
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in all weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of hydraulic systems, carpentry, and concrete work
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
