Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on city infrastructure including roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Operate heavy machinery (backhoes, dump trucks) and specialized equipment safely and efficiently
- Respond to emergency repairs during severe weather events and public safety incidents
- Conduct inspections and document infrastructure conditions using digital reporting tools
- Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and municipal regulations
- Train new team members on equipment protocols and maintenance procedures
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED with 3+ years in maintenance/construction
- Valid Tennessee Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification or ability to obtain within 30 days
- Experience operating heavy machinery (excavators, loaders, graders)
- Basic knowledge of civil infrastructure systems and repair techniques
- Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and emergencies
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Pass background check and drug screening
