Responsibilities
- Maintain city facilities, parks, and public spaces including irrigation systems, playgrounds, and athletic fields
- Operate heavy equipment safely including dump trucks, backhoes, and trenchers for infrastructure projects
- Perform preventive maintenance on city vehicles and mechanical systems
- Respond to emergency repairs during weather events or public safety incidents
- Implement sustainable landscaping practices and water conservation initiatives
- Collaborate with engineering teams on capital improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and city safety protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; AA degree in facilities maintenance or related field preferred
- Valid California Class C driver's license with clean record
- 3+ years experience in municipal maintenance or public works
- Certification in equipment operation (backhoe, forklift, etc.) required
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in various weather conditions
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Experience with GIS mapping or asset management systems a plus
