Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and repairs on municipal buildings, roads, drainage systems, and park facilities.
- Respond to and resolve emergency work orders regarding infrastructure damage or malfunction promptly.
- Operate heavy machinery and hand tools safely and efficiently, including backhoes, dump trucks, and landscaping equipment.
- Inspect public works projects to ensure compliance with city codes, safety regulations, and engineering standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including vehicle and tool cleanliness.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to identify necessary improvements and execute maintenance plans.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent; vocational training in a trade field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in general maintenance, construction, or a related field.
- Valid Class C Texas Driver's License with a good driving record.
- Ability to pass a post-offer physical examination, including lifting requirements (up to 50 lbs).
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or HVAC systems is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
