Responsibilities
- Maintain, repair, and inspect municipal infrastructure, including roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems.
- Operate heavy machinery and equipment, such as backhoes, cranes, and forklifts, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
- Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests and perform repairs during inclement weather events.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations and OSHA standards.
- Collaborate with other city departments and contractors to coordinate large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Document all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections accurately in digital logs.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Class C Louisiana Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in maintenance, construction, or general labor.
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50+ pounds repeatedly throughout the workday.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions, including heat, rain, and humidity.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulic principles, and hand/power tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
