Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on city facilities, parks, and infrastructure
- Operate heavy machinery (street sweepers, trucks, mowers) safely and efficiently
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests during inclement weather
- Conduct routine inspections of public spaces and document findings
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams on special projects
- Adhere to OSHA safety standards and municipal protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification preferred
- Valid Virginia driver's license with clean driving record
- 2+ years experience in facility maintenance or public works
- OSHA 10-hour construction safety certification
- Ability to operate heavy equipment (CDL Class B a plus)
- Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in all weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems
