Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy municipal equipment, including dump trucks, snow plows, and street sweepers.
- Perform street maintenance tasks such as pothole repair, crack filling, and pavement marking.
- Conduct routine inspections of public infrastructure to identify safety hazards.
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests and weather-related incidents.
- Maintain cleanliness of public rights-of-way and parks under the department's jurisdiction.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Michigan Class C Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
- Physical ability to perform heavy labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs and working in various weather conditions.
- Previous experience in public works, construction, or general maintenance is preferred but not required.
