Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on city infrastructure including sidewalks, drainage systems, and public facilities
- Operate heavy equipment including backhoes, dump trucks, and street sweepers
- Assist in emergency response for weather-related incidents and public safety hazards
- Conduct inspections of municipal assets and document maintenance activities
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and city protocols
- Participate in seasonal operations including snow removal and flood control
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational/technical certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience in public works, construction, or related field
- Valid Class C driver's license with clean driving record
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification or ability to obtain within 30 days
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely (backhoe, forklift, etc.)
- Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of hydraulic systems, concrete work, and asphalt maintenance
- Pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
