Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment (excavators, loaders, dump trucks) for infrastructure projects
- Perform preventative maintenance on city vehicles and machinery
- Respond to emergency stormwater drainage and road repair requests
- Collaborate with engineering teams on public works improvement projects
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and municipal regulations
- Document work activities using digital reporting systems
- Support recycling/solid waste operations during peak demand periods
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical degree preferred
- Valid North Carolina Commercial Driver's License (Class B)
- 2+ years equipment operation or maintenance experience
- Certification in heavy equipment operation (e.g., NCCER)
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in extreme weather conditions
- Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills
- Basic computer proficiency for reporting systems
- Must pass background check and drug screening
