Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on city equipment and facilities
- Operate heavy machinery (snow plows, graders, etc.) during seasonal operations
- Respond to emergency infrastructure repairs with minimal downtime
- Conduct daily safety inspections and maintain regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Document maintenance activities using digital reporting systems
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred
- 3+ years in municipal maintenance or construction
- Valid Michigan CDL Class B license
- OSHA 30-hour construction certification
- Experience with GIS mapping and fleet management software
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in extreme weather conditions
- Detroit residency required within 12 months of hire
