As a key member of our Public Works team, you will ensure that our streets, drainage systems, and facilities are safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing for all residents.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repair of municipal vehicles, equipment, and infrastructure, including streetlights, signs, and drainage systems.
- Operate heavy machinery and power tools safely and efficiently in various weather conditions.
- Inspect public works projects and facilities to identify potential issues and implement preventative maintenance measures.
- Assist in snow and ice removal operations during inclement weather to ensure public safety.
- Respond to emergency service calls and work overtime as required to maintain city operations.
- Collaborate with other city departments to coordinate large-scale maintenance projects.
- Ensure all work areas are kept clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required; technical trade school certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in general maintenance, construction, or a related field.
- Valid Class C Texas Driver's License with a good driving record.
- Ability to operate a variety of heavy equipment, including backhoes, dump trucks, and skid steers.
- Physically capable of performing strenuous labor, including lifting heavy objects and working outdoors in extreme temperatures.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
