Responsibilities
- Maintain Public Infrastructure: Perform routine and emergency maintenance on streets, sidewalks, and traffic control devices to ensure public safety and accessibility.
- Equipment Operation: Operate heavy machinery, including dump trucks, loaders, and hydraulic tools, adhering to all safety protocols and manufacturer specifications.
- Inspection & Compliance: Conduct regular inspections of work sites to identify hazards, ensure compliance with city codes, and document findings accurately.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to weather-related emergencies, utility breaks, and public service requests during peak times.
- Community Engagement: Interact professionally with residents and visitors, providing information and assistance regarding city services.
- Record Keeping: Maintain detailed logs of work performed, materials used, and equipment maintenance schedules.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; technical certification in a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in public works, road maintenance, or general labor is required.
- License: Valid Washington State Driver’s License (Class B) with a clean driving record is mandatory.
- Skills: Ability to operate a variety of heavy and light equipment; basic knowledge of construction and safety standards.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), work in various weather conditions, and stand for extended periods.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with supervisors and the public.
