Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery (street sweepers, dump trucks, etc.)
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on city vehicles
- Respond to emergency infrastructure repairs during inclement weather
- Collaborate with engineering teams on public improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and municipal safety protocols
- Document maintenance activities using digital reporting systems
- Train junior technicians on equipment operation best practices
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid NC Commercial Driver's License (Class B) with clean record
- 3+ years heavy equipment operation experience
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Strong commitment to public service excellence
- Pass background check and pre-employment physical
