Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on city parks, sidewalks, and public facilities
- Operate heavy machinery (mowers, trucks, snow removal equipment) safely and efficiently
- Respond to emergency weather events (snow, hurricanes) for public safety
- Conduct infrastructure inspections and report maintenance needs
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams on community projects
- Adhere to all OSHA and municipal safety protocols
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid North Carolina driver's license with clean record
- 2+ years of landscaping or equipment operation experience
- OSHA 10-hour certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Strong commitment to public service and community values
- Pass background check and drug screening
