Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on city streets, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Operate heavy equipment (backhoes, graders, dump trucks) for infrastructure projects
- Respond to emergency repairs during storms and natural disasters
- Conduct routine inspections of public facilities and report hazards
- Maintain accurate records of work orders and material usage
- Collaborate with engineering teams on capital improvement projects
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and environmental regulations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework in civil engineering preferred
- 3+ years experience in municipal construction or public works
- Valid California Class C driver license with clean record
- Certification in heavy equipment operation or willingness to obtain
- Knowledge of Caltrans and OSHA standards
- Ability to work variable shifts including weekends and emergencies
- Physical ability to lift 50 lbs and work in extreme weather conditions
- Experience with GIS mapping or asset management systems
