Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on streets, sidewalks, and public facilities
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery (e.g., dump trucks, graders, asphalt equipment)
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests during storms or natural disasters
- Conduct infrastructure inspections and prepare detailed maintenance reports
- Coordinate with other city departments on cross-functional projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and municipal safety standards
- Implement sustainable maintenance practices to reduce environmental impact
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in maintenance preferred
- Minimum 3 years experience in public works or heavy equipment operation
- Valid California Class B driver's license with clean record
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools and maintenance software
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in varied weather conditions
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Experience with GIS mapping or infrastructure management systems
- OSHA 30-hour certification or willingness to obtain
