Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on city infrastructure including roads, drainage systems, and public facilities
- Operate heavy machinery (e.g., dump trucks, excavators) safely and efficiently
- Respond to emergency service calls during inclement weather and public safety events
- Conduct regular inspections and document maintenance activities using digital reporting tools
- Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and environmental regulations
- Maintain accurate inventory of equipment and supplies
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid Virginia Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brake endorsement
- Minimum 2 years experience in public works, construction, or facility maintenance
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in outdoor conditions year-round
- Proficiency with basic hand/power tools and diagnostic equipment
- Clean driving record and ability to pass background check
