Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery (street sweepers, graders, snow plows) for infrastructure maintenance
- Perform preventative maintenance on city equipment and facilities
- Respond to emergency weather events (snow/ice removal, storm cleanup)
- Conduct daily inspections of public works assets and document findings
- Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and municipal regulations
- Provide excellent customer service to Omaha residents and businesses
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years experience in public works or heavy equipment operation
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with airbrake endorsement
- OSHA 10-hour construction safety certification
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of hydraulic systems and preventative maintenance
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Must pass background check and drug screening
