Join San Francisco's Public Works Department to maintain the city's critical infrastructure and enhance community livability. We're seeking a dedicated Public Works Maintenance Worker to ensure the safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of our public spaces through hands-on technical work and collaborative problem-solving.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on streets, sidewalks, parks, and public facilities
- Operate heavy machinery including asphalt rollers, trenchers, and sweepers
- Conduct infrastructure inspections and document maintenance activities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on capital improvement projects
- Implement safety protocols and ensure regulatory compliance
- Respond to emergency repairs during weather events or public safety incidents
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- 2+ years of experience in public works or construction maintenance
- Valid California Class C Driver's License with clean record
- Certification in confined space entry or OSHA safety training preferred
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks
- Strong knowledge of municipal infrastructure systems
- Experience with GIS mapping or maintenance software a plus
