Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on city streets, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Operate heavy equipment (backhoes, dump trucks) for infrastructure projects
- Conduct safety inspections and implement hazard mitigation measures
- Coordinate with engineering teams on capital improvement projects
- Respond to emergency weather-related public works incidents
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment usage
- Train junior staff on proper equipment operation and safety protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with 2+ years infrastructure maintenance experience
- Valid Class C California driver's license (Class A/B preferred)
- Certification in heavy equipment operation or willingness to obtain
- OSHA 10-hour construction safety certification
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of GIS mapping and maintenance management systems
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail
