Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment (e.g., dump trucks, street sweepers) for infrastructure projects
- Perform routine inspections and repairs on public facilities and utilities
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and city regulations
- Respond to emergency public works situations (e.g., stormwater management)
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams for coordinated project execution
- Document maintenance activities and prepare daily progress reports
- Support sustainability initiatives through waste reduction and resource conservation
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid California Class C driver's license with clean record
- Minimum 2 years experience in public works or construction maintenance
- Certification in OSHA 10-hour construction safety preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in various weather conditions
- Basic proficiency with maintenance software (e.g., CMMS systems)
- Strong communication skills for public interaction and team coordination
- Pass pre-employment physical and background check
