Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on city infrastructure including roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment (trucks, graders, jackhammers) safely and efficiently
- Respond to emergency repairs during inclement weather or public safety incidents
- Conduct regular inspections of public works assets and document findings
- Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety protocols and environmental regulations
- Train junior staff on equipment operation and safety procedures
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum 2 years experience in public works or construction maintenance
- Valid California Class C driver's license (Class B preferred)
- Certification in heavy equipment operation or willingness to obtain within 6 months
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of GIS mapping and digital reporting systems
- Successful completion of background check and drug screening
