Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance and repair of city streets, sidewalks, and alleys to ensure safe travel conditions.
- Operate heavy machinery, including dump trucks, graders, rollers, and paving equipment, following all safety protocols.
- Inspect public facilities, drainage systems, and infrastructure for signs of wear, damage, or potential hazards.
- Respond to emergency service requests and perform rapid repairs for potholes, flooding, or debris clearing.
- Assist in snow and ice removal operations during winter months to maintain public safety.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding project status, road closures, and safety concerns.
- Ensure strict compliance with all traffic control measures and local government regulations.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is strongly preferred.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug screen.
- Previous experience with heavy equipment or municipal maintenance is a plus but not mandatory.
- Must be able to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
- Strong commitment to public service, safety, and attention to detail.
