In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of essential tasks, from road repairs to park maintenance, ensuring that San Jose remains a beautiful and safe place to live, work, and play. Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair streets, sidewalks, alleys, and public facilities.
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment such as rollers, graders, and jackhammers.
- Perform landscaping duties, including mowing, trimming, and planting in public parks and medians.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests and public complaints in a timely manner.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and city policies.
- Inspect work areas to identify potential hazards or safety concerns.
- Assist in the removal of debris, snow, and ice during adverse weather conditions.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid California Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
- Basic knowledge of construction and maintenance tools and equipment.
- Strong commitment to public service and community safety.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions.
