Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on streets, sidewalks, and storm drainage systems
- Operate heavy machinery including backhoes, graders, and asphalt compactors
- Conduct routine inspections of public infrastructure and document findings
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and environmental regulations
- Respond to emergency repairs during extreme weather events
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in civil engineering or related field preferred
- Valid California Class C Driver's License with clean driving record
- Minimum 2 years' experience in public works maintenance or construction
- OSHA 10-hour construction safety certification required
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently
- Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in outdoor conditions
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD or GIS mapping systems
